Program Overview

The 25th Annual institute features:

Keynote Address (Thursday, May 29, 2008)

Brian Gallagher, President & CEO, United Way of America


Four-Day Training Workshops (Thursday - Sunday; precludes participation in other workshops)

Four-day training workshops offer participants opportunities for intensive skill-building based on NMCI's tested curricula and expertise.  Four-day workshops include Training of Trainers I & II, Developing Strategic Diversity Initiatives, and Conflict Resolution.

Two-Day Training Workshops (Thursday - Friday or Saturday - Sunday)

Two-day training workshops offer participants opportunities for focused skill-building on diversity and inclusion for specific topic areas and/or industry sectors.  Individuals attending a Saturday-Sunday workshop may also register for 90-minute workshops.

1 1/2 Hour Workshops (Thursday - Friday; most offered twice)

1 1/2 hour workshops offer participants opportunities to engage in dynamic conversations on current topics in the field and to share real-world models for organizational change. Short workshop topics include Generational Diversity, Unconscious Bias, Spirituality in the Workplace, Microinequities and case studies of organizational change.

Who Should Attend

Managers and administrators, human resource personnel, trainers and consultants, educators, healthcare and social service professionals, conflict resolution practitioners, and others concerned with diversity and inclusiveness who work in the corporate, government, education and non-profit sectors.

Purpose of the Institute

NMCI's institutes bring together professionals from across the country and around the world to explore diversity and multiculturalism in both personal and professional contexts.

The institute includes:

  • a variety of workshops for professional development on diversity and training,
  • special events for networking and relationship-building in the field, and
  • opportunities for dialogue on the critical issues of multiculturalism in our society.

Certificate Training Programs

Upon completion of any two- or four-day workshop, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from the National MultiCultural Institute.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

All Participants: Upon request, continuing education units will be awarded for completion of one to four days of training as follows:

  • 4 days of training - 22 units
  • 3 days of training - 18 units
  • 2 days of training - 12 units
  • 1 day of training - 6 units

There is a $15.00 fee for processing each request.

Counselors: The National MultiCultural Institute is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines.

Psychologists: Approved by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists for credit in Category A.

Social Workers: Approved by the National Association of Social Workers.
